The final day of SEC Media Days would naturally have fireworks with Lane Kiffin and Tennessee Football in town. Caleb Calhoun and Dave Hooker got exclusive interviews with all three Vols players in Nashville while also speaking to a former coach and two national analysts for Off the Hook Sports’ Friday, July 21 podcast. What showing did the Vols put on at the event?
Joe Milton, Jacob Warren, Omari Thomas speak
All three Tennessee Football players in attendance spoke with Off the Hook for exclusive interviews. Joe Milton III talked about who supported him when he was at his lowest. Jacob Warren, a regular with the program anyway, touted Milton’s personality. Omari Thomas touted the defensive line and the defense as a whole, saying he thinks he’s one of the best defensive linemen in the SEC.
David Cutcliffe on Tennessee Football
Former Tennessee Football offensive coordinator, former Ole Miss Rebels head coach and former Duke Blue Devils head coach David Cutcliffe talked about the Vols under Josh Heupel and what he thinks of Joe Milton III. Cutcliffe, who is currently a special assistant to the SEC administrator, also talked about changes to the game.
Cole Cubelic on Tennessee Football blocking schemes
This year, Tennessee Football is likely to flip another offensive lineman. Cole Cubelic joined the show to discuss the process of flipping linemen to the opposite side in Josh Heupel’s system and if that means anything going forward. He also gave his take on whether or not the Vols can compete with the Georgia Bulldogs yet in the East.
Andy Staples on Tennessee Football fans
ON3 Sports’ Andy Staples discussed what sets Josh Heupel apart from previous Tennessee Football coaches, most notably his willingness to tune out the noise and not get affected by it. Staples said UT fans make coaching the Vols the “highest pressure” job maybe in all of sports outside of the New York Yankees. Does he have a point?
