Tennessee football is not be done recruiting wide receivers in the 2024 class. Particularly, four-star Kamron Mikell has emerged as a top target for the Vols.
Originally, Mikell had an official visit scheduled for November to watch Tennessee take on Georgia. He has moved his official visit up to September per 247Sports, when the Vols take on South Carolina.
Mikell ranks as the No. 138 prospect nationally and the No. 9 athlete in the 2024 class. 247Sports also has Mikell as the No. 21 prospect out of Georgia.
The 6-foot-2, 181-pound athlete picked up an offer from Tennessee in January. He visited Knoxville for a spring practice in April as well as for the “865 Live” event at the end of May.
Mikell has already officially visited Georgia, Georgia Tech, South Carolina and Indiana. He is working out official visits in the fall to Kentucky and Texas A&M as well as Tennessee.
Mikell holds 31 scholarship offers. There are two crystal balls on 247Sports, including one from Steve Wilftong. Both projections have Mikell staying in-state with Georgia. While Georgia may have a lead, Tennessee clearly has Mikell’s attention.
“It’s just more explosive, and they tell me how I would fit in and succeed because of my speed and my versatility with the ball in my hands,” Mikell told 247Sports. “It’s really exciting to think about how I might fit in because of how they’ve been dominating the deep ball. I feel like it makes them more versatile.”
Mikell did it all for Statesboro (Ga.) High School last season. He threw for 465 yards and seven touchdowns while completing over 41% of his passes. He also ran for 1,083 yards and five touchdowns while averaging 7.7 yards a carry. He was a first-team selection at quarterback.
Mikell’s recruitment will likely go down to the wire, with a decision looming in late November or early December.
