Tennessee Vols and Lady Vols face “What Ifs?” after dissapointing losses

Full Disclosure, I watched the Tennessee-Kentucky game and only checked infrequently on the Lady Vols during an occasional timeout break.  The first time I checked, they were down by 18.  The next time, they were down by 13 at the half.  The next time was when I switched channels after the Vols’ game ended and the Lady Vols had tied the game with South Carolina with just under four minutes to go.  The immediate thought was ‘Wow, this could be a special game and moment for a Lady Vols program that didn’t have a lot of “specials” on their resume over the past several seasons.’  My Georgia alum/wife even got excited as she knew how big it would be for the Lady Vols to knock off the top-ranked Gamecocks. And regardless of the game ending, the 23 point come from behind to take the lead was an amazing effort by the Lady Vols.

So everything played out to where the game was there for the taking for the Lady Vols.  They made the plays to give themselves the lead with 3.7 seconds to go and at the free throw line with a huge chance to ice it.  The Lady Vol shooter had made both her previous free throws in the game and had an almost 80-percent from the stripe this season.
